Package your creations in one grid and have it work in all grids without any modifications! Skidz Partz Open PackIt is a packaging system for boxing up larger builds. The biggest advantage to Open PackIt is that every script needed to unpack the package is open source. This means it becomes possible to package your build in one grid and move it to another. It also uses special techniques to capture and maintain all the data position points so when you import it into another grid it will just work! This will work with any build you have made! Note: To import your items into a different grid, you will have to use import and export tool such as Stored Inventory, formerly known as Second Inventory.
Features • All unpacking scripts are open source • Perfect for exporting to other grids • Will work in other grids without any work on your end • Easy-to-use • Move the package and the items rezzed follow • Quickly remove all the rezzing scripts from a build • Detailed rezzing instructions for your customers, just substitute your company and creation names Items in this package - ::Skidz Partz - Packet Read Me - This is this notecard. Drop the scripts "Recorder", "Rezzer1", "Rezzer2" & "BuildingScript" into this package 4. Create a notecard named "RezData" in your inventory 5. Drag the notecard from your Inventory into the package 6. Create a notecard named "Unpack Help" in your inventory 7. Touch the new package, and choose "Script" from the menu; keep the script it gives you 9. It will then ask you if your are ready for the data; choose "Yes" from the menu 12. You will see a bunch of text in your local chat window; copy everything below the line: Please copy the COMPLETE text below this line into the notecard "RezData" in your package To select all the text click and drag your mouse over it in the local chat window To copy the text hit CTRL+C on your keyboard. 13. Paste the text just copied into the notecard "RezData" and save and close it 14. Now right click on each linked set in your build and take a copy one at a time 15. Drop each one of those items into your package 16. Take a copy of your package 17. Move away from your original package a little and drop the one you just took out 18. Touch it and choose from the menu finish 19. Touch it and from the menu choose "Rez" 20. You can now look over the results and insure you didn't miss anything by mistake If you did miss something by mistake you can de-rez this one and go back to the original to correct the mistake 21. Once you are happy, de-rez the build and take it; that is your finished product Transfering your build to another grid Since you are the creator of all the scripts in the package you can transfer it to other girds using tools such as Second Inventory. After you have it transfered to another gird there are some small things you need to do. Mostly turn back on the scripts. To do this: 1. Drop your package out on the ground. 2. Right click and edit your package. 3. In your viewer click Tools/Set scripts to running in selected. This will turn on the scripts in the package, but not the scripts inside the objects inside 4. Now touch the package and choose Rez from the menu. This will rez the items, but since the scripts are not on, they won't move into place. 5. Select all the items it rezzed and in your viewer click Tools/Set script to running in selected 6. Take each object back into your inventory now 7. Replace the objects in your package with the ones you just took 8. Rez the package again to test it and ensure everything is working correctly Note if you are importing into Second Life, you can use Tools/Save object back to object content instead of doing step 6 and 7. But I found it does not work in other grids. Q & A Q- I have finished my package, but want to go back and record more. Can I do this? A- Yes, just drop back in the "Recorder" script to undo the finish. Q- So this exports my builds to other grids? A- No, this has many scripts in it, that can be used to box up items. All scripts in it that are needed to rez a boxed item are opensource. That means you will be the creator of these scripts, and have mod rights which is required from many application that export objects from and to second life. So you can use other applications to export your package to other grids using tools like Second Inventory. Q- It says full perms but the recorder script is copy only. A- This is correct. The recorder script is only needed when packaing up the build. It is not needed to rez the build. For this reason it is Copy only.
