Active Prims Don't Like the Release Candidate PDF Print E-mail
Second Life - Technical

Blacky Swansong came to me today and ended up purchasing the Skidz Primz after some deliberation. I worked with Blacky to get him all set up with the tool and began to teach him the basics. As we delved a little deeper into our lesson, I began talking about the Active Prim. "It's the prim that's flashing."

Notecard Server with a interpreted language PDF Print E-mail
Second Life - Scripting

Have you had a chance to play with the new HTTPIn Yet? I have, and put together a great demo of its power for fun, and thought I would share it with all. Its a notecard server that allows you to request notecards, and that has an interpreted language built in. What this means is you can place some of what I call NSL (notecard scripting language) into the notecard to change what content is served up.

So I have been playing a lot with Blender lately and I'm really enjoying it... So I thought I'd do a couple short tutorials every now and then on it...

We are going to start with something simple for the first one:

How to resize an object so it's the correct size when you import it into your Virtual World of choice...

1.23.0 RC Viewer "What's New" PDF Print E-mail
Second Life - Technical

I had a chance to check out the new viewer release in beta and thought I'd share my experience with you.

So what's new in the new anticipated viewer? The first thing that may be of concern is the additional option in the Edit>Preference>General tab where you can set the ratings. The Adult rating would only be available if you have an age verified your account. If you're not age verified, you can only see PG and Mature. The settings you choose in the General tab will relate what you can search for within the Second Life search Button.

Second Life - Scripting

Of course linden labs comes out with a kewl alternative way to communcat in Second Life, right after I come out with a server. In the beta grid they are testing out the new HTTP-In feature. It turns your script into a small web server. I have been waiting for something like this forever.

Is Linden Labs planning on restricting script memory per parcel? PDF Print E-mail
Second Life - Scripting

A friend of mine, Thomas Conover, sent me a link yesterday to a blog, that appears to be owned by someone that works at linden labs. In it, he described something linden labs is working on to limiting script memory per parcel. Script memory would become a resource like prims on each parcel.

Publishing script from LSLEditor to Secondlife PDF Print E-mail
Second Life - Scripting

If you are a scripter in Second Life, then you most likely use lslEditor. If not, I would suggest you at least give it a shot. Well, one thing that I find a little annoying about the entire process is moving my script in world. I first have to select all, then copy, move over to SL, open the script, wait for it to load, select all, paste it in and finally save it. I swear, it used to take up a large percentage of my dev time.  I went looking for a solution and, not finding one, I made one...sorta.

Well it was an awesome party. If you didn't make it, you missed a good one this year. Alayna, and Abel did a great job this year. If you didn't make it you missed out on several prizes, triva, games, and dancing.. But here are some photos so you don't feel so left out.
